LIVE and in COLOR
I went to Orlando on Friday, February 29th , with my mom for the second year in a row. It was still different , without having my dad , but we were determined to enjoy this year's production of Smucker's Stars on Ice. This year, as we traveled by car to Orlando , we had a very ironic thing happen , in my review from last year's show , I mentioned us making it to our hotel , but having a terrible time finding Amway Arena . So, this year I thought that we would not have the difficult time we had , if I booked us a hotel in Orlando instead of Clermont .
Well, we made it to Orlando , but we still had a terrible time finding that darn Florida Turnpike . So, we stopped and asked how to find it again, see I decided to give MapQuest one more shot, and on the paper it said we had to find the turnpike going to Tampa. Just like last year, I had a strong feeling to have us turn at the one that said Miami , but I still was not too sure if we would have gone to Orlando that way. I remembered my dad always turned off at some point, and when I saw it last year, I felt a strong pull towards Miami, but MapQuest said for us to go towards Tampa , and turn off .
It always looked so easy on the paper, but after we had our first stop for directions , we made it to Orlando , and went through the toll roads. Then, here was the ironic part, this year we managed to make it to the venue, but we could not find our hotel that was located on International Drive, so I just found that very funny, and very ironic . We arrived there around a little before 7 that evening, and we made it through the fist security check point, without any problems.
When, we went inside Amway Arena , I bought a program, and then we bought us some food to eat, and then we looked for our section, of course I had us going the wrong way, then I realized our section was 122 again. I loved 122, I had some wonderful memories made in section 122 in 2004 , so I was very happy to be there again. We had our tickets checked, and then we walked all the way down to Row A . I was in seat 8 and my mom had seat 9, and while I walked down to our section, I was very tempted to grab an Advanced ticket form, but I was good, and I thought to myself, No. You would be taking someone else's from them and that is not nice.
So, we made it to our row , and I looked for my form, and it was not on my seat , and I looked over at the two seats next to mine, and I could not help it, I just had this sudden urge to grab it, and I did. Then, I tucked it safely into my program, before I began to eat my sandwich . My seats were directly behindthe on ice seats, so that was cool, and I was just happy to be there before the show began. I also enjoyed the pre- show music , before there was an official announcement, the first part was reminding us of the rules, no flash photography, no throwing gifts, or flowers on the ice , since it was harmful to the skaters, then there was some news that followed that.
They were very regretful for having to inform us that Jamie Sale, and David Pelletier would not be in the Orlando show , because of an injury . I said, "Awwwww." I also heard some of the eager fans say the same thing, or they made plans to go to the other locations in Florida , hoping to see Jamie and David there. Then, after I finished my sandwich, the show was about to begin. So, I took some time to look around the venue, to see how many people were there to see the show.
I noticed a lot of empty seats, but I also took into consideration that some of them came in late, it still looked like there was fairly huge crowd. I could still sense a very high energy level in the building . Everyone there was ready to see the show , and they all started to scream , just when the lights went down.
Then, the two big screens came to life in front of us, and we eagerly tuned in to see what was going to happen. On the screens, there was this bright golden yellow star, in outer space. I also saw a UFO that it bounced off of , and the sound that surrounded us was just incredible , as the star continued its journey through space , as it did I saw other planets that are in our solar system, and then the star fell down towards the planet we all call home.

LIVE and in COLOR Continued
The star landed on our planet , and a big blue globe was lit up, showing all of the cities in the entire United States that the tour went to . Then, the star landed on the ice, and it skated, until it began to spin very fast, so fast that it flew up and joined the words, Smucker's Stars on Ice . Well, I joined the audience in cheering after that little opener was over. I had seen it on TV, but it was much better seeing it LIVE and in COLOR.
After that star studded performance, there was another picture on the screens, and this time it was a count down , and we all counted along, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ."
On "1," the show finally began, and the crowd screamed even louder as the cast skated one by one as their name was being. I am sorry, I really can't say who came out first, but the members of this year's cast were; Todd Eldredge , Michael Weiss, John Zimmerman , Kyoko Ina, Yuka Sato ,Jennifer Robinson, Hongbo Zhao , Xue Shen, Marie - France Dubreuil , and Patrice Lauzon . We all shouted for them , and that is what I always have loved about Orlando, and being apart of the crowd there, because they all yelled and screamed, so I never have to be afraid of being too loud. Like, I always said in my reviews every year, Orlando was always ready for a party.
All of the ladies that came skating out , wore in a solid, neutral color , I am pretty sure their dresses were a sparkly silver, and then the men came out in black costumes. Once they were all out on the ice, I looked for Sasha Cohen, and I wondered if she was there. Then, she came out in a very bright and vibrant red dress, and her dress really sparkled . I screamed for her and the rest of the cast . They all had a great opening number, and I felt that the show was already off to a great start. I really did not know where to look, because there was so much action going on all at once. So, even though I tried to watch everything, it was still nearly impossible.
I watched Sasha, as she glided on one foot , as she held her other leg up, during one of her famous spirals . That was amazing for me to see LIVE, after I had watched her do it time and time again, in the skating competitions on TV. She really was beautiful , and I also enjoyed the lifts that John Zimmerman, Kyoko Ina, Hongbo Zhao, Patrice Lauzon , and Marie- France Dubreuil did at the same time. Then, after a voice over the loud speaker said, " LIVE and in COLOR , the men all unbuttoned their black shirts , and showed us some color.
The audience was still yelling, as we all watched in amazement , while the cast entertained us in Simply Irresistible . I thought everyone was wonderful, and some of the spins looked beautiful , with the contrast of the different colors that the cast had on, and "Simply Irresistible " was also filled with a higher level of energy. At the end, the cast listened to our appreciation for their exciting performance.
Then, the rest of the cast went back into the black skating tunnel , that my seats were very close to, and I had my first glance at the Canadian Ice Dancers, that were the Two -Time World Silver Medalists - Five Time Canadian Champions, Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon turned up the heat a little bit in, Fire. While, they skated, I tried to take a picture of them with my cell phone , but the lights were just too bright, and they looked like bright flashes on my cell phone camera's view screen.
So, I gave up and just enjoyed their performance. Some of their lifts were incredible , and during one of them, he was sitting on the ice, and she laid down on top of him, as they just glided across the ice , with very little effort. I heard a lot of the fans screaming and cheering during that, and I am pretty certain that I joined in right along with them. At one point, she was even between his legs , while she was bent over backwards , and he was skating forwards, pulling her along with out one single trip , or fall!
They were really amazing too, and everyone in the audience could feel the chemistry, and the passion between them. Then, at the end of Fire, the crowd really gave them a warm welcome to Orlando and the tour . They smiled and waved to us, as everyone there just continued to yell and clap, and I even heard some people whistling too, so I could easily tell that Orlando loved them . Then, after the dancers left the ice, we watched the huge screen again, as it played us a different version of The Brady Bunch.
We saw all of the cast members in squares , and they looked around as the story, that was told in a very creative way , through a song, with different words, of how this year's cast became a family. We all laughed when it said, "Todd Eldredge as Alice." He was put in the middle square , and the look on his face, made us laugh more, because it really was priceless. He just looked down and read what it said, and he just looked like he was saying, "Huh?" We all cheered for that too, before the World Champion and Two-Time Japanese Champion, Yuka Sato came skating out of the black tunnel, quietly , as she softly skated out to the ice, while she was being introduced to us on the monitor.

   LIVE and in COLOR Continued
We all welcomed her back to Orlando , and then we got quiet , as she silently wove her beautiful magic out on the ice. I also tried to take her picture , but all I could see was this bright, white flash of moving light with brown hair. I even told my mom quietly, that she truly was a star, because she was shining so brightly . She skated to a soothing song called, 1000 Miles Away. She was dressed in an elegant , white, flowing dress, and she had very soft knees, when she landed her jumps. She was just simply breathtaking , and a joy to watch. I stood up for at the end of 1000 Miles Away, while she gently waved to us and smiled .
Then, we all heard a telephone ringing, and some one in the audience said, "Hello?" It was funny, but it was not part of the show, because the phone just continued to ring, until Todd's answering machine came on. Then, we all listened to the messages , and most of the messages were not the kind anyone would like to hear. The first message was about his flight to Japan being canceled , and he was informed that he had to take the red eye. Then, another one was from Tina, who was a fan that was a little too adoring , and his neighbor called telling him that a storm knocked over a tree , and it fell on his sports car.
Then, the last one was from his agent, some kind of deal fell through. We all went, "Awwwww," and laughed . Then , the World Champion -Six time United States Champion, Todd Eldredge , came out and just shrugged his shoulders, because he wanted to look on the positive side . He taught all of us a very important lesson, and that lesson was that we should, Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. He was very funny , and he made us laugh with him . When one of the parts of the song said, "You give it a try," he went over to a guy that was sitting in the section across from mine, and he had the guy try to whistle .
So, the guy tried to whistle, and maybe he did, but all we heard was a loud sound of air being blown out of the mouth. That made us laugh, and I whistled along with the whistling part of the song. Then, the crew member that was running the show, got a phone call , right in the middle , so the music suddenly died, and the lights went out. It was very dark, except for the single spotlight on Todd. He asked the crew member, "Hey what's the big idea? I am doing a show here you know." The crew member said, "Oh Sorry, Todd ."
Then, he turned the lights back on , and the music played again , before Todd missed the water that fell down from the ceiling . He also showed us how to look on the bright side of death . He slid on the ice on his back, while he held up a flower, while he laid there on the far right side for a few minutes. My mom laughed at that, then just before his bow, at the end, a spotlight came loose , fell, and crashed on the ice , while he was only a few inches away! So, the lights went out again, and when they came back on, he began to take his bow. Until, he discovered that his pants had fallen down !
He tried to bow, while he held up his pants . That was a very funny performance, and I stood up for him , while I cheered. Before he left the ice, with his pants securely fastened . Oh yeah, he had on yellow boxers with some polka dots on them, or something else, I was just too busy laughing to really pay attention. After we all settled down, the screen got our attention again, as we watched the faces of each cast member morph into the next.
I thought that was really cool. I also watched three dark figures come out, and I saw John Zimmerman , and then when the lights were a little brighter, the Olympic Silver Medalist - Two Time World Silver Medalist- United States Champion, Sasha Cohen was standing on what looked like a trampoline. Everyone cheered for her, before the music to Enchantment began to play. Then, she was lifted off into the air by Patrice Lauzon , Michael Weiss, and John Zimmerman, she looked like a ballerina.

  LIVE and in COLOR Continued
She was absolutely gorgeous, and she stretched her legs in so many different positions, that I truly believed she lived up to the nick name, those three guys gave her, which was, "Gumby." They called her that, because she was just so flexible, and they could do anything with her. She also had lovely lines, and when each guy switched her around, she just continued to use poses that were so stunning. I really loved it , when the guys all held her, and her body moved up and down.
She really resembled a beautiful dolphin, or whale, swimming below the water's surface , and then in one graceful move the dolphin or whale, swam to the surface. My mom was afraid for her, because I heard her say, "Oh my gosh," when Sasha's head came down close to the surface of the ice. I stood up for Sasha at the end of, Enchantment.
Then, after Sasha Cohen left the ice , I heard the voice of Jennifer Robinson, as it came out of no where . I looked everywhere , until my seat mate next to me, kindly told me where Jennifer was standing. Then, I saw her in the spot light, as she held a microphone . I had never really experienced this before, so it was interesting , and a nice change. I also thought that maybe the cast were really trying to connect with us on another level, or maybe this was a space filler for Jamie and David's performances.
Anyway, she asked some of the members in the on ice sections, if they had any questions. She also just asked anyone in particular , if they had questions. So, someone yelled from across the ice on the other side, "Free style!" Jennifer turned and looked in that direction, as she asked , "Who said that?" The person yelled back, "Me!" Jennifer said, "Okay . You . What was your question?" So, the person repeated it, and Jennifer repeated, "More free style." Then, she said, "Hmmm, You would like more free style," and the person yelled, "Jumps ! Spins!"
Jennifer said, "Okay. Well, didn't you all like what Sasha did?" We all yelled and cheered for our reply, and I might have said, "Yeah!" Then, she skated over to the side where my section was located , but she was a little ways down from mine, as she asked, "Does anyone else have a question?" So, a gentleman in that section raised his hand, or just spoke up . She went over to him, and said, "Hello. Sir. What is your name?" He replied, "Lou." She said, "Okay. Lou . What is your question ?" He asked her, "How is Jesse doing?" She said to him, "Who is this Jesse that you speak of?"
He replied, "Jamie and David's baby." Then, Jennifer said, "Ah , Yes for those of you who don't know, Jamie Sale and David Pelletier are the proud parents of Jesse." Then, she turned her attention back to Lou, and said, "He is on the tour with us actually, and he is false advertising to all of us, it is really unfair, but everyone is doing fantastic." At least that is as close as I could come to her actual words, but we all thought that was funny. I was also happy for Jamie and David . I also was very lucky, because I got to read about Jesse, and see his adorable pictures in my issue of Spotlight On Skating .
When Jennifer asked us if we had any more questions, and we let her know that we did not have anymore questions, she went back into the black tunnel. Then, it was time for the Two Time Olympic Bronze Medalists- Three Time World Champions - Eight Time Chinese Champions, Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao. They came skating out from the tunnel, and when the lights came on , they were in the center of the ice. The crowd around me yelled, and shouted, to give them a warm welcome.
Then the arena was quiet , as we the powerful pair work together in perfect unison. They skated to a song called, Feeling Good. I thought that their throw jump was amazing , and at the end I stood up for them , as my section roared out their appreciation. All of the sections gave them endless praise , and yes just like every year, we all competed to see which section was the loudest, but I thought that we all sounded the same, because all of us put together were the loudest . That is what makes the show fun for us, and the skaters that come , and perform for us. Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao seemed to appreciate all of our endless applauding, because they had big smiles on their faces, as they waved to all of us.

Re:2008 SOI Review LIVE and in COLOR

  LIVE and in COLOR Continued
They left the ice, and then a familiar tune started to play, I had heard it before in 2004 , that familiar tune was, Hero. This year, the Two Time World Bronze Medalist- Three Time United States Champion , Michael Weiss skated to it. Most of the crowd were cheering him on, while I just sat back, and watched him skate. He did a great job, and we all could clearly see the emotions , that were portrayed on his face. These emotions were sincere, and thoughtful, as if he were thinking about the one he loved. At the end, Orlando showed him their love. He gave us smiles and he waved to each section, before he skated towards the tunnel.
After we watched another presentation on the screen as a contestant winner told us why she won, and that she was honored to introduce the next skaters to us,then it was time for the World Bronze Medalists - Three Time United States Champions , Kyoko Ina and John Zimmerman to skate. They skated to, Shine on you Crazy Diamond. At the beginning, they were both laying down, well John Zimmerman was laying on the ice, and Kyoko Ina was positioned above him some how. I really did not know what she was hanging on to be honest, it was just the most interesting position I had ever seen.
Those two were a huge hit with us, as they always have been, because, they always could make us go, "WOW!" At one point, he did a spread eagle , while she was between his legs , as she hung upside down , with her legs wrapped around his waist. They also had high energy , and they left me breathless. John and Kyoko were an awesome combination out on the ice. I stood up for them , and yelled before John Zimmerman and Kyoko Ina blew my section a kiss! Wow! That just made us yell more . Or maybe we were yelling more, because Sasha Cohen returned to the ice .
She left all of us in awe, as she gracefully skated to, Anytime, Anywhere. She truly was stunning, and her spirals were just gorgeous. I was also impressed with how high she could stretch her legs. She almost had a fall, when had a jump, but it was not her fault, and she saved the jump, so it really did not matter , because I loved her, and Orlando still loved her. I even heard a girl in a section across from mine yell, "I love you, Sasha!" I said, "Awwww." Sasha was heading towards the tunnel, but I think she heard it, before she went in.
I looked at the program, and I saw that Thankful was next, but we all knew that Jamie and David were unable to perform that number. I really missed them, and I truly hoped that they would have a restful , yet speedy recovery, and they were in my prayers. So, Michael Weiss came out holding a microphone, while Jennifer Robinson skated beside him. He talked to us a little bit, and he told us that the cast were happy to be back in Orlando. Then, Jennifer Robinson , added that the cast had fun during their time in Orlando, and that we have been wonderful hosts. Then, we all showed them some of our love.
Jennifer Robinson handed the microphone back to Michael Weiss, and he asked us if this was our first time to see the show. I heard shouting from the section on the other side, before he asked us if we have seen a Smucker's Stars on Ice show before. Most of us screamed, and clapped very loudly. He said, "Wow every year that's great." Then, he asked us to raise our hands if it was our first time. So, we saw all of the hands that were raised, and he told those people that they were in a treat . Then, Jennifer Robinson asked us if we had been enjoying the show so far. So, we all yelled some more.

Re:2008 SOI Review LIVE and in COLOR

    LIVE and in COLOR Continued
Then, they left , and we watched the events that were unfolding on the screen, I can't really remember if the monitor had a video of various people involved with the tour, or if they were showing us the importance of eating a meal together as a family. Anyway, after the screen went dark again, for a few moments, I could not help but notice a small stage being lowered down onto the ice. Until, we saw the screen come back to life, and Scott Hamilton played a news reporter, named Noah .
I did not catch the last names very well, sorry. Anyway, he shared a report about a band that was making their come back after 20 years. The lead singer Axel Edge and his band, Hard Steele, had to break up , after Axel's mom grounded him for not doing his homework, and coming home after dark. That was funny, then Noah turned the report over to Jennifer Robinson's character, Silvie.
Silvie told us that the band Hard Steele was making a comeback in Orlando Florida ! So, of course the audience went nuts, and of course I joined in. She was reporting LIVE , and she described the atmosphere , and I believe she said she felt a high level of energy, and that the fans were very eager to see the band's come back. Then, Silvie said that the band's music was not her style , and that she was going to look for some ear plugs, and try to survive the concert.
Then, she spotted some fans from Asia. Yuka Sato's character just continued to answer her questions with, "Hard Steele," then she giggled. The other two ladies , were Kyoko Ina and Xue Shen I believe. They all kept on giggling, after they screamed, "Hard Steele!" They were very funny. Kyoko's character had to translate what Xue Shen's character said . We all laughed when we heard her answer after Kyoko translated it. Xue Shen's character 's response was about listening to her mother's eight tracks, and that was when she became their fan.
Then, the spot lights shone down on the stage , where the band, Hard Steele stood. I laughed, because the guys looked very funny, and the fans from Asia came unglued. Anyway, the guys in the band were played by Michael Weiss, Patrice Lauzon, Todd Eldredge , Hongo Zhao , and then Axel Edge was played by John Zimmerman. The number was called, Hard Steele is Back, and it was a very fun number . I also recognized some of the music, which were just a variety of rock songs . One of those rock songs was, I Love Rock N Roll . The guys had long hair of various shades in color, Todd's looked white or white blond. They skated and jammed out on their guitars, while I watched I could not help but think that Alexei would have looked great out among that group.
I also saw Todd Eldredge singing along , as he skated by our sections. Then the Asian fans were chasing them all over the place. One of the fans even hung on to one of the band member's leg, while he skated. I thought that was very funny, then they wanted to get us involved. I tried to stomp my feet, and I raised my hands in the air , before I clapped along, as each cast member stood in front of us clapping. Patrice Lauzon and a red headed Marie- France Dubreuil spun around. She held her guitar, and he held her feet, then her head was only inches from the ice ! That was cool, I knew that head bangers were dangerous, but they were also very impressive.
The action was just non stop, until the end, we all could tell that the cast had a blast. We all had a blast watching them, and it was very funny when Silvie became a die hard fan. At the end, I stood up for all of them and pumped my fist. I really did not know why I pumped my fist, but I guessed it was because I was caught up in the moment. After the cast left the ice, we had an announcement , that there was going to be a 20 minute intermission. We were also told to look in our programs for a particular added thing, signed by Sasha Cohen .
I really can't remember if it was a certain picture, or a poster, but anyway if we found it , then we would have won two back stage passes for after the show. I looked in mine, but I did not see anything signed, she shared a recipe for a smoothie, that was kind of nice. I still thought that was a pretty cool gesture on their part . I also hoped they would offer it another year, the back stage passes, not the smoothie recipe. Normally , during the intermission , I would have gone to the booth and bought an autographed picture of Alexei. However; this year I really did not know what to buy.
So, I just hung out in my seat , and watched the clock on the screen, and then I watched the Zamboni. I always loved to watch that wonderful machine work its own magic. The ice looked smooth as glass , when it was finished . My seat mate, a woman next to me, started to talk to me. She asked me a question about the show, and I told her it had been really good so far. Then, she asked me if this was my first show . I told her that I had been coming to see Stars on Ice since 2003, and that this was my fifth year . She seemed impressed, and she told me that she came with her husband every year.

    LIVE and in COLOR Continued
It was their Valentine's Day gift or date , and each year around Valentine's Day, they make their pilgrimage to Orlando to see the show. I thought that was really sweet. So, I opened up and told her the reason I had been coming to Orlando to see Stars on Ice. The reason was to see Alexei Yagudin . She said, "Ah ." Then, I told her that I was a huge fan of his. I enjoyed talking about Alexei, but honestly it was not my intention to bring him up. I really was there to support the cast and the show too , that I enjoyed seeing year after year.
However: when she showed me that she had a genuine interest, well I couldn't stop. I told her that I had a website for him , called Alexei Fans Place, and that my website opened on his birthday two years ago. So, she asked me when Alexei's was born, and I said, "March 18th, 1980 ." She said, "I knew that you would know." I just smiled, and then she told me that her son was born in 1983 . I also talked to her a little bit about my dad, and I told her this was our second year to come see the show without him, because he died two years ago .
She told me that my dad was up there meaning heaven, and that he was watching the show from there with me. I agreed with her, and I told her that Alexei was also there in spirit , because he was in my heart . Then, I touched my Alexei button, that I wore every year , she looked at it, so I showed it to her. Then, I told her that I wore the button to every show no matter what. She was impressed, and she even told her husband, when he returned, that I was Alexei's fan and that I had a website . I was very proud of Alexei Fans Place, but I just said a modest, "Yeah."
Then, she asked me if I was there when Alexei did that number where he hung from the ribbon, she called it a ribbon, I said, "Passion, Yes." She said, "That was amazing." I just couldn't agree with her more. Then, when the show was about to resume, I looked for my mom , until she finally came back to her seat a minute before the lights went down. The first number of the second act was called, Too Cool to Warm. I noticed when two of the guys came out carrying a bench. Then, Jennifer Robinson came out , and we all could hear her thinking out loud . Jennifer's thoughts said, "I love the warm up." Then, she had this huge ball, and some other equipment with her. Then, her thoughts said, "I have to find my center." So, Michael Weiss came out, and he looked at her. Then his thoughts said, "She never skates." He kind of chuckled, before he removed his skate guards.
Then, he started to skate around, until Todd Eldredge came out and put his skate guards on Michael Weiss's side of the bench. He came back and his thoughts said, "Oh No. He didn't." Then, he skated over to Jennifer's bench. While Todd was skating, Michael's thoughts said, "Wait till you see my back flip." So, Todd kept him from doing his back flip, as he was thinking out loud, "Oh You are going to try a back flip , Huh? I'll see about that." Then, Kyoko and John came out , and the others tried to stay out of their way, and Patrice came out with Marie -France Dubreuil came out, and they all thought, "Ice Dancers coming through watch out."
They also cleared the way for Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao, because they did not want to get in that pairs team way. Sasha came out , and on the screen the words, "The Diva" appeared. Then, the beginning to Hernando's Hideaway played. After she started to skate around, she started thinking out loud , and we heard her thoughts say, "Did I leave the curling iron on back at the hotel?" Michael and Todd also played soccer with the ball that Jennifer was using, after it rolled over to them, so Michael's thoughts were, "Todd and I can play soccer."
They kicked it around, and hit it with their heads. I never saw anyone in that group actually warm up, but we all laughed while watching it. The rest of the cast left, and Jennifer Robinson removed her warm up suit , and then her voice said, "Now. I am ready." She entertained us with , Hit Me with a Hot Note. It was a fun, and bouncy number. She bounced a couple of times when the line in the song, mentioned bouncing. She kicked up her heel , and had a lot of fun , so that made all of us have fun right along with her.
Then, after Jennifer left the ice, Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao skated to Adagio. They were very moving and powerful , it was really cool seeing them LIVE. I stood up for them at the end, then during the slot where Love Stoned was supposed to be, Michael Weiss and Yuka Sato came out. Yuka said, "I have a microphone." Then, she talked about the fans that came to see Stars on Ice, and signing autographs , how she loved to connect with us at the shows. So, Michael Weiss added that Stars on Ice fans were the best in the world. I thought that was very nice of him to say that.
Then, Yuka asked him what he liked about the fans, and he mentioned that they traveled from city to city to see them in the shows, and he talked about the gifts that were sent backstage. So, Yes, of course my mind went back to 2006, and the gifts , I was so lucky to deliver to Alexei, through the head usher, who took them backstage. So, Yuka asked Michael what he would do, for the fans. He told her that he would do anything , and that he would even give us the shirt off his back.

  LIVE and in COLOR Continued
Well, after that the place went crazy. Yuka was shocked, and she said, "Did I just hear you say, you would take your shirt off?" He said, "Well. This is my favorite shirt, It has the Stars on Ice logo on it, and it was signed by all of the cast." Yuka just said, "If you are going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk." We all backed her up with our enthusiastic yelling. So, he said, "You want my shirt?" I yelled just to help my section out, as he faced each section.
He asked, "You want my shirt ?" Then, he turned to another section and asked, "How about you over here?" Everyone was screaming, he decided that my side was the winner, so it was a face off between my section and the section next to us. He teased us, by going back and forth , while we screamed louder, if that was possible. Then he said, "Let me hear you over here." So my section would yell and scream. Then, he went to the one next to mine, and said, "Let me here this one."
They all screamed, and then he said, "Over here again, No over here," before he finally picked the winner. He picked a girl that was celebrating her 16th birthday. Then, he teased us again when he sang a few notes of the song that is played while a person is taking their shirt off . He did that while he unbuttoned his shirt. I even heard someone yell, "Take it off!" He laughed and said, "I am just teasing", then he took the shirt off , and put it on her. When he heard that some of the women were disappointed to see he had a white tank top on underneath, he said, "This is a family show, what else did you think I was wearing ?"
I honestly was kind of happy, that he had that tank top on. Then, Yuka and Michael wished the girl a "Happy Birthday," before they left, and Sasha Cohen came out. She talked to us about how much she loved music, and how it was a big part of skating, then she introduced , Nessum Dorma. Marie -France Dubreuil , Patrice Lauzon , Kyoko Ina, John Zimmerman, along with Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao skated to a beautiful song, that I had heard while watching some of the competitions on TV. They all were very graceful, and beautiful to watch. I stood up for them and clapped, while they all waved and smiled.
Michael Weiss pleased some of the ladies that were disappointed before, with Save a Horse. Yes, the lines in that song did not leave much to the imagination. It pretty much spelled out it's meaning with this line, "Save a horse, ride a cow boy." I thought that his back flip was pretty impressive , and he had fun riding on his heels , with the help of his Freedom blades, those always were pretty impressive as well. After he bowed and waved to us one more time , Marie -France Dubreil and Patrice Lauzon skated to She's Always a Woman. I thought they were very graceful, and they had beautiful lifts. I stood up for them at the end and shouted, "Wooooo!"
Some of the other final numbers were cut out , and honestly I did not mind. The reason why I did not mind, is because my mom and I still had to find our hotel , so any early start we were given was greatly appreciated. I also was very tired from traveling in the car most of the day. However: I still gave Sasha Cohen my fullest attention, as she wrapped up the evening for us , before the final act with all of the cast, with Imagine. I loved the color of her blue dress, I think it also had a little green in it. She was lovely as always.
While, I watched her performance, I believed everything that I had heard Peggy Flemming say about her , while I watched the competitions. I always rooted for Sasha, and just like I celebrated Alexei's victories with him, I did the same with Sasha. She truly deserved her silver medal , and I hope to see her go for the gold some day. She has always been just amazing . I stood up for her, and showed her my admiration.
Then, we all made one last memory with the cast , as they dazzled in the spotlight during, Making a Memory. I loved the pastel colors that the ladies wore, I remember that Sasha had on a pink dress, they all flowed with every movement, it was very pretty. I also liked it when they passed the microphone around and introduced their fellow cast members. I thought that was really neat. But: I can't lie , I missed Alexei very much , and I easily pictured him out there with the cast. I sincerely hope that he wouldl return and take some kind of spot on that ice again.
Anyway at the end, we all stood up , and clapped , then we remained standing until it was time for the cast to break off and shake hands. My section had John Zimmerman, and Jennifer Robinson. Then, we all waved to them one final time, before they all skated into the tunnel. After, the show was over, Mom and I spent some time locating our car, since our section was not on the same did that we had parked the car. We found it though, and a few hours later, we also found our hotel . My mom gave me some of her impressions of this year's show, and she even said that it was not the same without Alexei .
I couldn't disagree , then we went to sleep, and we traveled back home on Saturday morning . I would love to return to see the show next year in Orlando. My mom and I were having on going discussions about it, I told her that I enjoyed the show. She knew I wanted to come back , but she wanted to see Alexei in it . So, I had until June 1st of that year to mail in my advanced ticket form, and after talking it over with my mom, I bought two tickets , that same month, or a month later. Because, in my opinion Smucker's Stars on Ice was still the best show in the world .
Stay tuned for 2009's experience ! Enjoy!
