Then during one of the points in the visit , J.C. watched  the eaglets as they appeared to be having a conversation .  That could have been about how well they had been getting along, wondering where their parents were at, or when it was time for their next meal, or possibly where each one was planning to go when they left the nest .  Either way, I loved the picture , and I hope you all like it too.

    I wished that I would have gone to the nest with J.C.  on the morning of 3-18-12.  Because, something very exciting happened .  One of the eaglets started to get ready for its first flight !  YAY!  My eagle buddy, J.C.  got a photo of the event too!  I was really excited to return to the nest, and I planned to return two days later.

     On that same morning, J.C. saw another bird of prey, that was perched on a post by the nest. I don't know if this was the same red tailed hawk , but it was still a beautiful bird.  I don't know how close he was to the hawk either , but it looked like it was about to fly off.

    Here is the picture J.C. took on the morning of 3-19-12.
There was a male Pileated Woodpecker making a home in one of the dead trees in the wooded area around the nest.  When I returned on 3-20-12, I did not see the woodpecker but I did get a picture of the hole it was making.

 I found two pictures from my first visit to the eagle's nest that I took of Papa. The first one was when he heard a sound and turned his head towards its source.

The second picture is of Papa, after he heard the sound and he took off in flight.

  Hello !  I have all of the pictures ready to post, and I am ready to share another American Bald Eagle Tale.  My next eagle experience was on the morning of 3-20-12.  My mom came along too, and I don't know why, but this one had a late start. Yet, everything worked out, and it was another beautiful, sunny, morning . We all had a nice walk over to the eagle's nest, and the minute we arrived I heard one of the eaglets, but we had to look for them.  I did not mind it was fun and it felt more like a game. Once we all spotted the eagle family in different areas, I had my camera ready to take some pictures. 
In my first picture, one of the eaglets was getting ready for a test flight, while the sun hid behind some clouds. 

In my second picture both of the eaglets were out of the nest and on a branch.I was excited about that, because it really was hard to take their picture while they were in the nest.

  The American Bald Eagle Tale from 3-20-12 continues with pictures of the eaglets, and Mama.

Here is my third picture of the two eaglet siblings, while they were still hanging out on the tree branches.

In my fourth picture Heaven was keeping look out in a section of trees towards the back of the nest in the cemetery. Papa and Mama used a particular tree that was in the back of the nest, it was very tall and both parents stayed watch there , before they left to hunt.

   The next picture from 3-20-12's American Bald Eagle Tale was my seventh picture when I captured the action at the nest earlier, when it was time for breakfast.

In my eighth picture it was breakfast time for Mama.

   The next picture of my 3-20-12 American Bald Eagle Tale was my ninth picture, Mama was preening her feathers after her breakfast, and then she enjoyed the breeze.

Then, after the action with the eagles kind of settled down, J.C showed us where the Pileated woodpecker was building his home. 
Remember when I said I did not get the woodpecker in my pictures? 
Well, I discovered when I had a closer look on the computer, that I did! 
In my tenth picture I took a shot of the tree and hole, and little did I know that inside was a head with red! The hole was at the top of a bare, dead, hollow, tree.  At the top in the middle .

Only a few more of my pictures are left from 3-20-12!

   As the activity at the eagle nest continued to wind down, I still had my camera ready to capture another picture of the wood pecker. 

In my eleventh picture ,  I had to find the tree again, with the help of my mom and J.C.  lol. I even went closer to it . 

Then, we all walked around the grounds again, and J.C. showed us the resting place of the original owners of the land. While we looked around in the small grave area, we saw the cattle farmer rounding up his cows! It was really cool to watch , I had never really experienced anything like that before. The farmer used his truck, he yelled and whistled at them, while he banged his hand on his door, and they followed his truck , and I was worried about his dog.  This very brave dog ran underneath the truck very close to the tires. But, the farmer knew his dog was there, and we watched him drive them out into another area of vast pastures.   J.C.  took a picture of the cattle drive while it was happening.  I am sorry about the size , but when I tried to make it a little bigger the details were lost.

    Then, my visit began to wind down, but I took my last and final picture from 3-20-12 .

After we watched the cattle being rounded up, we checked out what was happening with the eagles, before we made our walk back. On the walk back there was a raven sitting on a light post . I was being silly and I asked it if it wanted to have its picture taken. 
It was looking at us ,it could have been curious about my camera. 
Anyway, it stood still kept looking down and I dare say it even posed for its picture. 
So, a raven was my twelfth picture.

When we arrived to our house, J.C. helped me select areas of my yard to plant some flower seeds in.So, in one of the spots there was a gecko hanging around the flower pots .
 The last picture was of the morning visitor , the gecko, that was taken by J.C.  I thought the gecko was really pretty.

Well that is all I have to share from the morning of 3-20-12.

    The next day was very exciting for J.C. and  I wished that I had been there too, because one of the eaglets fledged for the first time!   I was so happy that he took these pictures on 3-22-12. 

The first picture was of the first eaglet, as she enjoyed the evening air.

The second picture is of the first eaglet in flight!

The third and last picture was of the fledged eaglet , as it enjoyed its first taste of flying.

     On the morning of 3-23-12, my eagle buddy,J.C. went for a walk to the nest. Where the eaglet was also practicing and learning how to land . 
In the first picture the eaglet was coming in for a landing. The trees without any branches worked out the best. When the fledged eaglet  tried to land in a tree with branches, my eagle buddy told me that the fledged eaglet was hanging upside down, and looked like it was in need of rescuing.  But, that was part of the learning process right?

In the second picture the eaglet looked like it was getting better at landing.

Then, when J.C. returned that same evening, the young eagle was enjoying the power of flying.

  Then, on the morning of 3-26-12 , my eagle buddy returned to the nest .  
Where a picture of the first young eagle was taken. 
After his visit on the day before, we talked about a woodpecker I had in my Queen Palms. 
He liked the wood, but he did not want his picture taken. 
He was pretty, with a bright red head, I think he was a Red Headed Downy Woodpecker, but he literally dodged our cameras.  During our conversation , I expressed my desire to return to the nest, especially after I heard one of the eaglets was flying!

My next visit on 3-27-12 is coming up!  I have the pictures I took all ready to post, it was a very special visit for me . One of my favorites.

     My most special eagle experience began with J.C. inviting me to the nest for the evening.  I eagerly accepted and got my camera all ready to go . My last evening visit was really cool , and it was also really neat to have some very nice binoculars, nicer than mine.  My other eagle buddy let me use them , and then I enjoyed getting to ride in the golf cart. Because, it used to belong to my dad , and the ride over reminded me of the times I rode in it with him.  We also talked about my dad and his love for the golf cart.
Then, when we arrived to the nest, I tried out the binoculars and they were amazing!  Everything, especially the eagle family were so close!  Closer than they were in mine, I also took pictures once we located them.  The family was not in the nest, or around  the nest, and we spotted the young eagles after I heard a crashing sound.  The young eagle had tried to land in a branch with pine needles on it, and they were falling down as the branch shook.  The young eagle was alright though, she did not fall and she quickly got her balance back . J.C. and I had a discussion about the eaglets, from comparing pictures and seeing them in the binoculars, I came to the conclusion that they were girls.  Because, they were so big in size and their eyes were close to their beak.  Just like Mama's eyes were close to her beak.  I also had an idea to put my camera up to the binoculars, but it would not have worked out too well.  As my eagle buddy, J.C. pointed out the camera would have blocked the view in the binoculars.  I agreed,  it would have been great if I could have though.
Anyway,  we saw Mama with one of the other girls in a tree across from the tree the other young eagle had made her crash landing.  We wondered why the eagles were hanging around the trees, and not near the nest.  I thought that it could have been another process in the young eagle's training.  When Papa flew in, to join Mama, J.C. snapped a picture of the two of them together.

At one point I was feeling silly, it was just such a beautiful evening, and I was in a wonderful mood.So, I talked about how the eagle family should have names, it was mostly for these posts.I knew these eagles were not pets, and it was just for fun.  After we both agreed about giving them names, the first young eagle started to fly around and show off.  At least we thought she was showing off.  Then, after she landed I just snapped picture after picture of her, and she even looked down when I told her that she was a star.  I told her that she was going to be a star and that I would post her pictures on my website . She started showing off again, so I called her Star.

   After Star was given her name, I studied her sister, and I noticed how the evening sun made her feathers shine.So, I told my eagle buddy that her name would be Sunshine.

After I named the two sisters,  I studied Mama and then I called her, Heaven. Because, she was the peace keeper for the eagle family.

‍3-27-12 Continued  

  I also took a picture of Heaven when she was by herself.  She had her back facing the camera, while she looked at something to her right.

After they waited for a long time, Papa returned and I namded him Freedom, then Heaven seemed quite upset with Freedom.I explained to my eagle buddy that Heaven was making the same kind of sounds my bird Petie made when he was mad.  She was really mad , and Freedom just listened . When she calmed down, she forgave him in her own way.  I took a picture of Freedom and Heaven together after his return, or before he left.

Then, Freedom suddenly took off for a little while longer, before he came back in for a landing.

Once he came in for his final landing, the eagle family settled down for the night.  So, my eagle buddy and I said "Good night."  Before the eagles called out to us, it was just a very special eagle experience for both of us.

       Hello again !  As I said, I went back the following morning and when we arrived to the nest, no one was home.  However J.C. showed me a place that they really liked to hang out. It was a secret place, so I will not say anymore.  But, I liked their secret location a lot because I was able to take some better pictures. 
Here is my first picture, of Heaven , Star and Sunshine together on a dead tree.  The tree helped them practice their landing skills.  At one point they were calling out to Freedom, while he was out hunting.  Star also went off to hunt, but came back with empty talons. 

My second picture is of Heaven by herself, after both of the eaglets tried to hunt.

 My third picture  I got of Heaven while she was still by herself, after she flew to another tree.

 

Then, when Star and Sunshine returned with nothing to eat, they cried out to Heaven.  Well Heaven got tired of it and she left them for another tree. Here is my fourth picture, of Heaven in the tree far away from them.   

 My fifth picture is of Heaven perching on a high branch. She was still too far away.

My sixth picture is of Star who had decided to chase Heaven down lol. That was so funny to watch those two flying from tree to tree .  Poor Heaven. Here is Star getting ready to take off. 

I think my computer made these smaller , because when I did the first upload in 2012 these pictures were larger than these tiny ones.  But, I did try to make them bigger and the quality and details were lost.  

I am so happy that J.C. allowed me to share his pictures, I have a few more of mine to share, then his will be next.

My seventh picture is of Star after she landed in the first tree that Heaven quickly left after Star arrived.

Then, she left that tree and followed Heaven . After that happened, J.C. and I talked about a name for last year's eaglet . I thought of Wendy if it was a girl , and Storm if it was a boy .  He liked those names too.

Then, J.C.  tried an experiment with me . While I was taking some pictures, he wanted to see if a picture could be taken,while a person is taking a picture.
We found out that, yes it can be done.

I also tried to get a picture of a flock of Sandhill Cranes , that landed in another pasture. But, the picture really did not turn out, I was too far away. Then my visit to the eagles' nest on 3-28-12 came to an end.  When I went home that day, I looked at an old picture of the eaglet from last year.I studied the eyes and the location of the beak, until I came to the conclusion that she was a girl, so her name was Wendy!  J.C told me in an e-mail reply that the eagles were no where in sight during the evening visit. I hoped it was not the end, and it wasn't we had some more time with the eagle family. I will share the next set of pictures that J.C. took as soon as I can.I have one more visit left from when I returned to the nest in April to share, and I will as soon as I can.

  Hello again !   I am ready to share pictures that were taken by my eagle buddy, J.C. He returned to the nest the following morning which was 3-29-12.  At first it seemed that the eagles had left, however the family was working through another training session for Star and Sunshine.  Which took place in a field aways from the nest.

Here is the third picture that J.C. took of a group of birds of prey that joined the eagles.

Next time I will begin sharing pictures from April, the final month we had for visiting our eagle friends.

   On the morning of 4-3-12 J.C. went back to the nest.  Where there was another training session for Star and Sunshine that was just starting to unfold.  J.C. described watching Heaven as she flew over to the nest with a freshly caught fish. 


Here is the picture of Heaven as she was coming in with a fish.

As she flew over to the nest Star and Sunshine were perched in different trees, and one of them watched her fly away from the nest, before she lured both of them away from the nest. 

Here is the picture that he took of one of the two watching Heaven and more importantly that fish. 

After both of the girls were lured out to where Heaven wanted them to go, one of them got the prize. So, one of them ate the fish under an oak tree and J.C. got that moment too. It was the end of another very successful training session for Star and Sunshine.

They still were learning how to catch their own prey though, but getting closer to the time when they would depart from the nest. 

That was the end of the visit on 4-3-12 , sadly the visits were coming to an end. However, J.C. told me about a large alligator that was living in one of our ponds not near me that year too. I was sent pictures, but I did not know the people who took them so I did not ask them permission to share the pictures. My eagle buddy, J.C. sure was excited about it though.
I was still interested mostly in the eagles and I have a few more visits to share .

Here is a picture that really displays how large they really were.  One of the girls was perching on a branch in her favorite secret spot. It is also another picture where the size should not be messed with lol.

I had my last visit with my eagle friends on 4-5-12, and I snapped a lot of pictures. Only two more visits left before their departure.

     Hello !  Thank you for visiting and looking at the pictures I am sharing of the eagle family.  I am ready to share about my last visit to the nest . My last visit was on the morning of 4-5-12, and I brought along my own pair of binoculars. I even tried the  different settings on them while I waited for J.C. Then, we began our walk, and I was in a really good mood.  So, I started singing "We're off to see the eagles  ."  Then, I listened while my eagle buddy told me what had been going on at the nest. 
When we arrived I got my camera ready to take pictures of Heaven,Sunshine, and Star while she was eating a fish.  They all were perched on their favorite tree, while I snapped away on my camera.

Here is my third picture , Heaven looked proud of her fledgling. She was also looking for Freedom.

My fourth picture was pretty much the same , only in this one Heaven turned her head again.

Star was still working on that fish though .

Then, during my next picture Star stretched and flapped her wings, and she learned an important lesson.That lesson was that she learned that day, was to be very careful when eating her meal in a tree and that she shouldn't move in any way, or let go of her fish.  Because, the fish fell off the branch and down the tree.  She was not too happy after that happened.
